Enhanced dipole-dipole interaction of CdSe/CdS nanocrystal quantum dots inside a planar microcavity

چکیده
The energy transfer ET dynamics of closely packed CdSe/CdS nanocrystal quantum dots NQDs embedded in a planar microcavity were studied by using time-resolved photoluminescence measurements. An increase of 20% was observed in the rates of ET from smaller to larger NQDs in the microcavity as compared with those measured in free space. This behavior was attributed to the enhanced dipole-dipole interactions between donor and acceptor NQDs at the spectral positions of the cavity modes. © 2006 American Institute of Physics. Ultralong-range radiative excitation transfer between quantum dots in a planar microcavity
We study the system of two quantum dots lying on the central plane of a planar semiconductor microcavity. By solving the full Maxwell problem, we demonstrate that the rate of resonant excitation transfer between the two dots decays as d as a function of the distance d at long distance. This very long-range mechanism is due to the leaky and guided modes of the microcavity, which act as effective...
متن کاملCalculation of Kolmogorov Entropy in Cavity Quantum Electrodynamics
In this paper Kolomogorov entropy of a simulated cavity quantum electrodynamics in a multi-partite system consisting of eight quantum dots in interaction with one cavity mode has been estimated. It has been shown that the Kolmogorov Entropy monotonically increases with the increasing coupling strength, which is a sufficient condition for chaotic behavior under ultrastrong coupling regime. The a...
متن کاملFIR Absorption in CdSe Quantum Dot Ensembles
Absorption of far-infrared (FIR) radiation in very small CdSe crystallites (quantum dots, QDs) via excitation of confined dipolar vibrational modes was studied, both theoretically and experimentally. Spatial quantisation of optical phonons was analysed in the framework of a continuum model, which couples the phonon amplitude to the electrostatic potential via the Fröhlich interaction. The frequ...
متن کاملTheory of resonance energy transfer involving nanocrystals: the role of high multipoles.
A theory for the fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) between a pair of semiconducting nanocrystal quantum dots is developed. Two types of donor-acceptor couplings for the FRET rate are described: dipole-dipole (d-d) and the dipole-quadrupole (d-q) couplings. The theory builds on a simple effective mass model that is used to relate the FRET rate to measureable quantities such as the na...
متن کاملModified spontaneous emission properties of CdS quantum dots embedded in novel three-dimensional microcavities
Modified spontaneous emission properties in the presence of confined photon modes inside the three-dimensional (3-D.) optical microcavities are demonstrated. Self-formed pyramidal-shaped semiconductor structures fabricated by selective-area growth technique are utilized as an optical microcavity in which discrete photon modes are generated. Noticeable modification of spontaneous emission from a...
